This Privacy Policy explains how Craft Innkeeper LTD handles information when you use our mobile applications, including player and host features for our quiz platform.

Data approach

Minimal by design

Players do not need an account to use the app. Hosts do not need a Craft Innkeeper account to activate host mode or pay for a host subscription.

Handled by the platform

Host subscriptions are purchased and managed through the relevant app store billing system. We do not process card payments directly in the app and we only store metadata related to subscription status where necessary to enable host mode features.

2. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to our mobile apps and related in-app features made available through platforms such as Google Play and the Apple App Store. It explains what information we may receive, how it is used, and the limited situations in which information may be shared.

This policy covers both player use and host use of the app.

3. Players

Players are not required to create an account to use the app.

We do not require players to submit personal account details to us such as a username, password, billing address, or separate registration information in order to join and play a quiz. Your team name and player name are only shared with the host of the quiz you are joining, and are not stored by us or shared with any third parties, and is stored locally on your device. Delete your local app data to remove that information from your device.

4. Hosts and subscriptions

Hosts may need an active subscription to enable host mode. That subscription is handled through the relevant platform's in-app purchase and billing system.

We do not require hosts to create a separate Craft Innkeeper account in order to purchase, restore, or verify a subscription.

Subscription status and transaction handling may be provided to us by the platform solely so that the app can determine whether host mode should be available.

We do not store or have access to your full payment card details. We only receive limited metadata related to subscription status, such as whether a subscription is active, expired, or restored, and we do not store personally identifiable information in relation to subscriptions beyond what is necessary for app functionality.

5. Information we may collect

We aim to keep data collection to a minimum. Depending on how the app is used, we may receive:

Technical and diagnostic data

Crash information, error logs, and basic diagnostic details made available through the app store, operating system, or platform crash reporting tools. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs or crash reporting SDKs that collect personally identifiable information or profile users inside the app.

Platform-provided metrics

Aggregated performance or usage metrics supplied by Google, Apple, or the relevant platform, such as installs, crashes, stability, or subscription events. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs that collect personally identifiable information or profile users inside the app.

Subscription status

Limited information needed to determine whether a host subscription is active, expired, restored, or otherwise valid on the relevant platform. We do not store personally identifiable information in relation to subscriptions beyond what is necessary for app functionality. This information is limited to Metadata such as device identifiers, platform, and subscription identifier, and does not include personally identifiable information such as names, email addresses, or payment details.

Support communications

If you contact us directly, we may keep the information you provide in your email or message so that we can respond and maintain support records.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use third-party advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs to profile users inside the app.

6. How we use information

Where we receive information, we may use it to:

  • provide and operate the app;
  • enable or restrict host mode based on platform subscription status;
  • diagnose crashes, bugs, and performance issues;
  • improve stability, security, and functionality;
  • respond to support enquiries; and
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms where necessary.

7. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information with third-party advertisers.

Information may be shared only where necessary:

  • with Apple, Google, or the relevant platform as part of app distribution, billing, diagnostics, and app management;
  • with service providers who help us operate or secure the app, where this is genuinely necessary and subject to appropriate safeguards; or
  • where disclosure is required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect our legal rights.

Where platform providers generate crash reports, analytics, billing records, or subscription events, their handling of that information is also governed by their own privacy terms and policies.

8. Payments and store billing

All host subscription purchases are handled by the relevant app store payment system, such as Apple In-App Purchase or Google Play Billing.

We do not collect or store your full payment card details through the app. Billing, payment authorisation, refunds, and store account management are managed via and according to the policies of the relevant platform provider.

9. Data retention

We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including diagnosing issues, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, and maintaining business records.

The exact retention period may vary depending on the type of information, the source of the information, and whether it is required for legal, accounting, fraud prevention, or technical support purposes.

10. International transfers

Some platform providers or technical service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we expect appropriate safeguards to be used in line with applicable data protection law.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have rights in relation to your personal information, including rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or to object to certain processing.

Our app is intended to be used as a quiz client and host tool. We do not knowingly require children to create an account with us in order to use the player features of the app.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Last updated date shown on this page. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or on our website where appropriate.
